2010 FEATHER - 94 POINTS

"A 100% Cabernet Sauvignon that spends 22 months in 100% French oak, it is loaded with sweet black raspberry jam, creme de cassis, charred toast and crushed flower-like nuances that flow to a full-bodied, voluptuously textured Cabernet that builds in tannin and depth with air. Gorgeously pure and seamless, it needs 3-4 years in the cellar and will evolve gracefully for 12-15 years."

2010 FEATHER - 94 POINTS, CELLAR SELECTION

"Sharp-edged with a brilliant mix of berry, cherry and black fruits, sparked by juicy acids. There's spice and chocolate highlights as well, with a purity and focus that suggests cellaring to add more complexity over the course of a decade or longer. Cellar Selection."

Randy's frequent visits to the Columbia Valley over the last decade have allowed him to develop a short list of preferred vineyard sites, all of which played a part in the 2010 blend. For this wine, Randy selected Dionysus Vineyard Cabernet (30%) for its dark, bright fruit character; Weinbau Cabernet (26%) to give the wine its structure and a textured mouth feel; 40-year-old vines from Sagemoor and Bacchus Vineyards (30%) to build layers of complexity and a hint of minerality and earthiness; and Stone Tree Vineyard Cabernet (14%) to add dark fruit flavors and richness across the mid-palate.

Randy Dunn is one of the world’s most celebrated makers of extraordinary Cabernet Sauvignons.

Dunn established his reputation at Caymus Winery from 1975 to 1985, where his Cabernet Sauvignons became the benchmark for the industry. In addition, his artistry shaped other premium wineries that now enjoy an acclaimed place in the sun (Pahlmeyer, Livingston, La Jota and others). Since 1979, Dunn has produced roughly 5,000 cases a year of his Dunn Vineyards Cabernets.

Randy is known not only for his famous wines, but for his philosophy on how to make wine. He does it his way - leaving the floor of the Napa Valley “to corn and melon farmers,” he tends his vines in the red stony soil of Howell Mountain. There are no road signs; no retail sales. And don’t look for him in a winery tour guide. No time for that, as Randy spends his quiet hours making his wonderful heirloom wines.

Randy lives with his wife, Lori, next to the winery on Howell Mountain.
