2008 Feather Cabernet Sauvignon - 1.5L

Napa Valley vintner, Randy Dunn, brings his artistry and expertise to Washington State to produce small quantities of Cabernet Sauvignon from the Columbia Valley's finest vineyards. His reputation for producing world-class Cabernet spans more than four decades. After making wines at Caymus from 1975-1985, Randy established Dunn Vineyards on Howell Mountain where he continues to craft distinctive wines of high acclaim.

Impressive for its intensity and elegance, the 2008 Feather offers generous aromas of ripe blueberries, black fruit and mocha with smoky notes of cedar and tobacco. A complex palate of dark plum, cherry, clove and licorice glides smoothly over refined tannins and creamy oak nuances.

2008 FEATHER CABERNET SAUVIGNON - 94 POINTS

“Randy Dunn's Feather has an intriguing floral component, and the aromas are complex and intense, though the wine is wound up tight. Let it breathe and it delivers elegant, focused flavors, precisely defined berry and cassis fruit, with a long and harmonious finish.”

2008 FEATHER CABERNET SAUVIGNON - 93 POINTS

“Good saturated dark red. Cassis, blackberry, blueberry and licorice on the youthfully medicinal nose. Dense, suave and sweet, with lovely inner-mouth black fruit perfume and a cool note of licorice. Flavorful but very subltle wine, finishing with broad but serious tannins and lovely aromatic persistence.”

2008 FEATHER CABERNET SAUVIGNON - 92 POINTS

“Sandalwood, licorice, dark chocolate, Asian spices, and black currant aromas set the stage for a tight, structured, well-balanced wine that requires another 4-5 years to fully unwind. This lengthy effort should see its 20th birthday in peak condition.”

Randy's fondness for the Wahluke Slope and Horse Heaven Hills is reflected in this vintage, dominated by these two complementary growing regions. Wahluke Slope Cabernet, from Stone Tree Vineyard and the Sagemoor Group's Weinbau Vineyard, give the wine its structure and ripe, dark fruit character. The Benches, in the Horse Heaven Hills, contributes elegance, earthiness and complexity.

Randy Dunn is one of the world’s most celebrated makers of extraordinary Cabernet Sauvignons.

Dunn established his reputation at Caymus Winery from 1975 to 1985, where his Cabernet Sauvignons became the benchmark for the industry. In addition, his artistry shaped other premium wineries that now enjoy an acclaimed place in the sun (Pahlmeyer, Livingston, La Jota and others). Since 1979, Dunn has produced roughly 5,000 cases a year of his Dunn Vineyards Cabernets.

Randy is known not only for his famous wines, but for his philosophy on how to make wine. He does it his way - leaving the floor of the Napa Valley “to corn and melon farmers,” he tends his vines in the red stony soil of Howell Mountain. There are no road signs; no retail sales. And don’t look for him in a winery tour guide. No time for that, as Randy spends his quiet hours making his wonderful heirloom wines.

Randy lives with his wife, Lori, next to the winery on Howell Mountain.
